Banks were hacked
Several large banks were hacked, including JP Morgan Chase & Co., which lead to theft of data associated with accounts. The theft involved significant amounts of data which could potentially lead to serious financial fraud. This breach likely affected over 83 million accounts across 76 million households. This is one of the largest data breaches in history.

UPS stores were hacked in a data breach recently, with stores in 24 states subject to the data breach between March 26 and August 11. “No fraud has yet been discovered, UPS said, but customer names, postal addresses, email addresses and payment card information were compromised.”
